Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Here you will find the most important questions and answers about hormon therapy at Cada. If your question is not answered here, please feel free to contact us directly.

When does hormone treatment make sense if you want to have children?

Hormone treatment is particularly recommended for couples or individuals who have not yet been able to conceive naturally. Targeted treatments support hormonal imbalances and help with egg maturation to increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.

What is the procedure for hormone treatment if I want to conceive?

Hormone therapy at Cada is carried out in the following 4 steps:

  1. Fertility analysis: In the first step, we carry out a comprehensive fertility analysis. This includes various methods such as ultrasound, swab, spermiogram and diagnostic blood analysis. The results serve as the basis for the subsequent hormone therapy.

  2. Start of treatment: As a rule, treatment starts 3 to 5 days after the start of menstruation. The hormones are usually injected daily, either independently or with the support of the partner.

  3. Ultrasound: From the eighth day of the menstrual cycle, the medical team monitors follicle development using blood tests and ultrasound. If ovulation does not occur spontaneously, it is triggered by an injection of hCG.

  4. Timed intercourse: After ovulation, the doctor will advise you on the best time for sexual intercourse. A pregnancy test is carried out two weeks after ovulation is triggered.

Which hormones are used and how do they work?

Hormone treatment uses hormones such as gonadotropins to promote egg maturation. LH and FSH trigger ovulation, while hCG stimulates the mature follicle to release the egg. These hormones support the natural reproductive cycle and increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.

How much does hormone therapy cost?

The costs for hormone therapy vary depending on the fertility clinic and are dependent on individual factors. As we at Cada only offer fixed costs, all necessary medication, analyses and consultations are already included in the price of hormone treatment. We will be happy to advise you on the exact costs in a personal initial consultation. We will also be happy to inform you about the various financing options.

What is the procedure for determining whether hormone therapy makes sense in individual cases?

The decision to undergo hormone therapy is made on an individual basis after a thorough fertility analysis. Our specialists analyze hormone levels, ovulation patterns and reproductive factors. The results form the basis for customized hormone therapy and can therefore improve the chances of a successful pregnancy.

What requirements must be met for hormone treatment?

Hormone treatment requires an accurate fertility analysis as well as regular menstrual cycles, intact fallopian tubes and a sufficient egg reserve. After a thorough examination, specialists decide on suitability and adapt the treatment to the patient's individual needs.

What effects does hormone treatment have on the menstrual cycle?

Hormone treatment can affect the menstrual cycle. The hormones used regulate the cycle by controlling egg maturation and ovulation. This can lead to more regular or more irregular menstruation. Our specialists monitor these changes very closely during treatment in order to achieve the best possible results.

What information do patients receive before starting hormone therapy?

If you have decided to undergo hormone therapy, you will first have a comprehensive consultation with one of our specialists. During this consultation, the exact course of treatment will be explained. You will also be informed about potential risks and side effects and given instructions on how to take your medication. To ensure that all our patients are well informed and prepared, we offer plenty of room for individual questions and concerns during this consultation.

Are there any risks and side effects that can occur with hormone treatment?

Yes, hormone treatment can have risks and side effects, including allergic reactions, swelling, mood swings and ovarian hyperstimulation. It is important to emphasize that there are potential side effects with any medical procedure. As we at Cada are committed to a high level of transparency, our patients are always informed in detail about possible risks and side effects before treatment.

How long does hormone therapy take?

The duration of hormone treatment can vary and depends on the specific type of treatment and individual medical circumstances. As a rule, a cycle extends over several weeks to months. In principle, it can be said that hormone treatment lasts until the goal is achieved - whether this is due to the onset of pregnancy, the end of treatment or the transition to another method such as IUI. Our specialists will be happy to discuss the expected duration and procedure with you prior to treatment.

Is hormone treatment compatible with everyday life?

Yes, hormone treatment is generally compatible with everyday life. Most hormone medications can be taken in the comfort of your own home and the injections are generally uncomplicated. It is possible to maintain a normal daily routine during treatment. Nevertheless, it is crucial to attend your doctor's appointments to ensure that the treatment progresses.

What happens if the hormone treatment does not result in pregnancy?

If pregnancy does not occur despite hormone treatment, a comprehensive evaluation is carried out in our fertility practice. At this point, it is of great importance to carry out a precise fertility analysis of both partners in order to be able to continue with the fertility treatment in a result-oriented manner. In close cooperation with our specialists, individual adjustments are made, alternative reproductive technologies such as IUI are discussed and an individual treatment plan is developed. At Cada, we attach great importance to empathetic support. That's why our specialists are there to support you throughout your fertility treatment.
