Prof. Dr. Gabriel Schär has occupied several prestigious positions in both academic and hospital settings, bringing over three decades of extensive experience in Gynaecology and Obstetrics..

Prof. Schär completed his medical studies at the University of Zurich and subsequently held roles at eminent institutions including the cantonal hospitals of St. Gallen, Frauenfeld, Münsterlingen, and University Hospital Zurich. His career is marked by significant contributions to clinical research, including a year at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, from 1995 to 1996. He also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Zurich starting in 2004, where he was involved in teaching.

Beyond academia, Prof. Schär's leadership was instrumental as the Chief Physician and later as the Head of the Women's Clinic at Aarau Cantonal Hospital from 1997 to 2017, where he made substantial improvements in patient care. In 2020, he took on the role of Director of the Clinic for Gynaecology at Zurich University Hospital. His leadership roles have included serving as the president of the Swiss Society for Gynaecology and Obstetrics (SGGG), and as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Hospital Thun STS AG.
